Ever wondered if the multivitamin tablet you take every morning is packing any punch? The answer’s yes. Clinical findings have revealed that, by taking a supplement for 28 days consecutively, individuals can boost their brain and body performance when under stress. In other words: after extensive testing – conducted by real scientists – there’s proof that vitamin and mineral supplements can contribute to better living. Here’s the low down on how it went down.
Admit it: you’re expected to be everything to everyone. You have to work hard, play hard and do everything in between. Which is why – more often than not – you end up feeling tired, lacklustre and run-down. You might reach for a multivitamin when you’re feeling low, to give you a boost and keep you going. But you’re not sure if it even works – you swallow and hope for the best. But you wouldn’t be wrong in hoping supplements can do some serious good.
In a recent clinical trial, 58 healthy young adults, aged 18 to 40, were given either Berocca Performance or a placebo (a ‘fake’ pill with no effect) to take every day for 28 days. The purpose of the study was to decipher the question many people ask: do supplements have any effect on the brain?
The participants were measured at the beginning of the study, and at the end of the 28 days. Blood biomarkers, mood, cognitive performance and functional brain activity were all measured. These are the key markers that indicate body and brain performance in most people, on a daily basis. Put simply, people participating in the study were measured on concentration, focus, feelings of calm or anxiety, as well as general health.
Investigators conducting the study measured the actual brain working, using fMRI technology. That means they could see the changes happening in front of them. And the changes were impressive.
The participants who took Berocca® for 28 days showed increased levels of vitamin B. This is beneficial, as vitamin B is responsible for maintaining healthy blood and cells.
Participants who took Berocca® also shared they felt a lift in overall mood – they felt more positive, and had fewer feelings of anxiety, depression or dejection.
Parts of the brain responsible for working memory also showed increased activation, in participants who took Berocca®. Working memory is essential for juggling tasks on an ongoing basis, and is core to everyday functioning – it’s the reason you can do things like get to work on time or make quick decisions. This group had better focus and mental agility too.
Why is this important?
You could be improving your daily performance – by adding Berocca® Performance to your day because now you know, it’s lab proven, life tested.
